Phils’ Hill BagJump Training Center
The WVBBTS/SEF Phil’s Hill Bagjump Training Center at Snow’s Mountain, located on the campus of Waterville Valley Academy, is a 275’ jumping venue that utilizes artificial snow and the Bagjump airbag to train athletes year round in conditions of increased safety.
For snowboarders and freestyle skiers, learning a new trick in a safe environment is key! The first of its kind on the East Coast, the year round training venue has two take-offs to accommodate beginner and advanced athletes as they launch into the air and land safely on the 50‘W x 50’L x 13’H. Athletes slide down the exit area of the airbag, get coaching feedback, then hike back up to do it again.
From November through March, the WVBBTS/SEF Phil’s Hill Bagjump Training Center at Snow’s Mountain is used exclusively by WVBBTS and Waterville Valley Academy athletes.
The WVBBTS Bagjump is a high-tech innovative tool for freestyle and snowboard athletes to learn and qualify their tricks safely! It is a 50’ x 50’ x 15’ multi-chambered, airbag apparatus used for absorbing the impact of landings. This allows athletes to train new and difficult tricks before trying them on snow. WVBBTS is the first snow sports program in the East to offer Bagjump training.
The Bagjump debuted on snow at the Waterville Valley Resort in 2010. Training times for WVBBTS freestyle and snowboard athletes are scheduled throughout the season, with some training slots for outside groups available by appointment. The Bagjump is a very effective training tool because it can be used year-round. It will be positioned at the base of Snow’s Mountain during the off-season as part of the Phil’s Hill Bagjump Training Center.
