Grace Aspen PodiumThis past weekend, WVBBTS-SEF freeski slopestyle athlete Grace Henderson (Madbury, N.H.) took 1st place in the Big Air competition and 7th place in the Slopestyle competition at the Aspen Snowmass Freeskiing Open.  Held at the same venues as the X-Games, The Aspen Snowmass Open is one of the longest running independent freeski competitions in the nation and attracts skiers from around the world.  Grace’s coach, Freeski Program Director Dan Shuffleton, had this to say about Grace’s performance, “Grace is a hard working and talented athlete and this win is just the start of many great results to come.”

Grace is a year-round student athlete in the Waterville Valley Academy operated by WVBBTS-SEF.  The Academy’s “Pinnacle” program allows elite snowsports athletes like Grace to maximize their training, while still receiving an excellent high school education.  During the winter, Grace trains at the Waterville Valley Resort.  In the off-season, she participates in trampoline training and practices jumps into a giant airbag at WVBBTS-SEF’s state-of-the-art training facilities — Phil’s Hill Bag Jump Training Center and the Tom Barbeau Training Center.
