Program Details

This program provides general instruction that progresses throughout the six weeks. The first two sessions will include an introduction to both Classic and Skate disciplines, emphasizing the fundamentals of skiing, balance, and control. Participants will also receive instruction on climbing, descending, recovering from falls, proper pole use, and entering or exiting parallel tracks.

Additional topics include equipment selection and maintenance tips for all types of Nordic skiing. The final four sessions will focus on skill advancement, helping each skier identify their preferred technique — with plenty of fun skiing along the way.

Over the course of the program, Bill will also cover trail systems, etiquette, and “rules of the road.” This is a non-competitive program focused on learning, connection, and fitness in a welcoming environment.

About Bill Brox

Bill Brox has a long-standing connection to WVABBTS, as a second-generation member alongside his siblings, with his grown children representing the third generation to participate in the alpine program.

Bill’s ski journey began in the early 1970s as a young Nordic athlete, where he developed both skill and a lifelong passion for the sport. He went on to compete in Nordic racing at Gould Academy and later joined the alpine ski team at Boston College, expanding his experience across disciplines.

Over the years, Bill has devoted countless hours to coaching in the weekend alpine program, where his knowledge, enthusiasm, and welcoming spirit have made a lasting impact on athletes and families alike. Now retired and living full-time in Waterville Valley, you’ll still find him on the slopes throughout the winter—continuing to share his love of skiing and helping to strengthen the WVABBTS community.
